The Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA) is a growing African institution committed to deepening democracy, protecting human rights and enhancing good governance in the region. The week of August 6th was a particularly important one for educators and members of the Kinshasa-based National Coalition for Education for All (CONEPT) as they participated in a special training seminar aimed at building their capacity in budget monitoring. 

The five day seminar was designed to provide the group of educators, who are keen to specialise in tracking public funding of the education sector, with appropriate information and advocacy techniques.

Elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are a priority for the Electoral Commissions Forum of the Southern African Development Community (ECF SADC) because the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections are only the second democratic elections since the signing of the Sun City accords in 2002.
