Programmes

Thematically, OSISA's work is organised into six main programmes and two cross-cutting areas of work. There are two building block programmes that serve as the foundation upon which all open society ideals are built, these are Education and ICTs. There are also two frontline human rights programmes that promote civil and political rights such as freedom of expression and the right to vote. These programmes are Human Rights and Democracy Building (HRDB) and Media. There are also two programmes that are at the cutting edge of policy dialogue and formulation: Economic Justice and HIV and AIDS. In these two thematic areas of OSISA's work, our efforts are aimed at ensuring that space is created to devise policies that respect human rights and uphold democratic practice. Lastly, there are two cross-cutting programmes that work with other OSISA themes to amplify efforts. These are the gender and women's rights and the language rights programmes.
