Spotlight on Investigative Journalism and fact-checking in Zambia

News Diggers, Zambia’s first multimedia publication focused on investigative journalism, recently conducted a week-long investigative and fact-checking media training course for twenty-one (21) reporters and journalists. Held in the capital, Lusaka, the cohort comprised of experienced journalists, with a blend of new and dedicated talent, all eager to shape the art of digital journalism in Zambia.
Against the backdrop of unchecked power, corruption, lack of access to services, shrinking civic space, the spread of false information and a fast-changing media industry, investigative journalism is regaining its prominence as a tool to expose wrongdoing, hold power to account and enable citizens, especially the voiceless and disempowered, to speak truth to power.
